Our Story and Mission

Truth in the Streets

Truth has fallen in the streets – Isaiah 59.14

You may have encountered us in the Uptown area of Minneapolis, the University of Minnesota campus, or elsewhere in the Twin Cities. The name of our group is Truth in the Streets. You may wonder about the name Truth in the Streets. First of all, we believe that truth1 exists and that life requires that we know it. And it belongs in public places2 (and not just in church buildings).

The Gospel

We believe that the gospel as presented in the Bible is truth and applies to all of life. It is life-giving3, it has real answers to life. The gospel is the way by which God reconciles fallen people to himself4 and in the future will restore a fallen creation. [The gospel is not the same as religion. The gospel is not a matter of adherence to a religious protocol.]

The Book

We are believers in the Bible. We believe that it gives us revelation about God, creation, man as a creation of God, man’s great problem, God’s solution to the fallen condition of humanity, the forgiveness of sin, spiritual birth, and the restoration of the individual and ultimately of the entire creation. We also believe that the Bible gives us an understanding of all of life.

Evangelism

When you see us out on the streets, we are engaged in evangelism, that is, we are telling others about the gospel of Jesus Christ. We also give people literature. Our purpose is to present the gospel that is revealed in the Bible (it may or may not be what they hear in church if they are church-goers). We believe that everyone needs to hear the true biblical gospel of Jesus Christ presented clearly without all the traditions that have accrued around it and all the misconceptions surrounding it so that they can either believe it (or disbelieve) it.

Questions?

For those who have believed the gospel or who want to learn more about it or who have honest questions and doubts, we host small group meetings for Q&A, for studying the Bible, for studying on topics of interest, and for learning about the Biblical world view

Our invitation to you

We welcome the chance to talk with people of all persuasions – secular materialists, church-goers, doubters, skeptics, atheists, mystics, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists. We also welcome the chance to talk to church members who have never heard the gospel and to Christians who want to know how the gospel speaks to the present world.
